Harakat حركات is a community initiative which holds free monthly screenings of Arab films in and around Naarm (so-called Melbourne). It is a place for our communities to explore and celebrate the universe of Arab cinema.

Harakat is by the community, for the community and celebrates the power of screen culture from the SWANA region – fostering community, connection and knowledge along the way.

Our monthly screenings and cultural outreach – both in-person and online – explore the stories, landscapes and creators that make up our shared screen culture.

We aim to connect, to partner and collaborate.

If you would like to learn more about our upcoming screenings or just want to reach out please email us at hello@harakat.com

Harakat acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung People of the Kulin Nation, who are the traditional owners of this land - land over which sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our respects to elders past and present and recognise Aboriginal connection to storytelling and creative practice on these lands for over 60,000 years.
